Marshall Manor

The 19th century Victorian-style manse is the original home of Virginia Marshall and not to be confused with the gaudier recreation of the historical home located in the nearby museum quarter and managed by grandson Mark Marshall. Though abandoned for years and in disrepair, the estate was clearly lavish and extravagant in its heyday. Perched solemnly atop a bluff overlooking a very overgrown yard and garden, the mansion features steep roofs, stone towers, turrets and railings, and a foreboding, winding grand staircase leading to the front doors. The remnants of Virginia’s private library and artifact collection, while in some disarray, are still stored within the mansion.
