October 31, 2004 Marshall Manor, Marshall Campus District 6:12 a.m.
One hell of an evening at Elysium. We stood our ground and showed that bastard Jenner Lanius that our small coterie won’t be fucked with. Oh, the humiliation of having the Prince’s court vote him down publicly. A sub-Regent and his gangrel bitch forced to tuck tail and leave in shame! I know it is mere human weakness to delight in the misfortune of others, but Lanius is an enemy. He deliberately and ruthlessly hurt Papagenno and Allison Shaw to get to us. I would be lying if I didn’t acknowledge that I find the taste of vengeance sweeter and more palatable each passing night.
Ah, but my head is swimming from the rich vitae served by the willing ghouls at Elysium. Is it notes of a Sanguine resonance I detect? I feel the pull of torpor dragging me down once again to my dark sleep. At least it will be dreamless. The sun is rising. Soon it will crest along the eastern facade of Marshall Manor to spill its radiance into what was once the late Virginia Marshall’s glorious solarium — a chamber alive and brimming with exotic plants, murmuring fountains, and angelic stone statuary poised to greet the coming light of day.
The irony is that I and my fellow neonates will never see the rays of dawn in any solarium, or any place ever again in this cursed unlife. Vengeance is a two-faced bitch, friend. I retire now to the shadows.
